in this song Leo Middea revisits the memory of a love no longer there. a tender recollection of what once was and a glimpse of what could have been.
“It was a romance that I was willing to change my whole life for, if necessary. I wanted to be sure I was with that person,” Leo shares. He reveals that the song was inspired by a long-distance relationship, eventually cut short by the arrival of someone new. “It’s the story of a love that lasted for a few months, but distance ended up winning.”
Just like its story, “Passarela” acts as a turning point in rhythm and mood. More intimate, with shades of dream pop blended into a laid-back groovy feel that nods to the Brazilian MPB of the ’70s and ’80s.
